Hi guys! I'm coming off of an injury that limited my summer miles (I posted about it last spring before it became bad - a weird toe bruising thing) and now I'm finally able to do some long runs. Since I'm not training for anything in particular at the moment, I'm just sort of aimlessly jogging around a few times a week and not making any progress. Do you have a good fall/winter training schedule recommendation for a moderately in shape person who is just starting back? If I don't get some program going I know the winter will get wasted and spring is going to be extra difficult.

You definitely need to get out more in the great state of Colorado! There are plenty of mountain towns that are as quaint as Leadville. In fact, I consider Leadville to be a "Typical Colorado Town". Congrats on your finish, by the way.

I took hundreds of photos of this race while freelancing for the local newspaper. You can view the photos on my website. I think you would enjoy viewing them. What bib number did you wear?

Thanks. I was thinking of doing the half next year because I've wanted to do it for a PR.

Yes, I'm attempting the 50-miler is probably the best way to put it. What was I thinking?

Joe,

Congrats on rebounding and running strong at Deadwood. I've literally felt your pain due to GI problems (including during the Deadwood full marathon last year), so I also know how good it feels to solve those problems and be able to run a pain free (well, stomach pain, anyhow) race.

I ran the half yesterday, and if you want to run a fast half you could do much worse. It's about as PR-friendly as a half course is gonna get. Just imagine running the second half of the marathon, but with fresh legs.

Good luck at Big Horn. I had thought about running the 50K there, but finally decided to do it one day too late....it filled up while I was sleeping on it.
