It feels like autumn started early this week and now we’re back into something that feels more like summer than anything else. Nonetheless, you can definitely see the seasons changing in the hills. Colorful leaves from the aspen are turning to fiery oranges and yellows. Grasses in the valleys and in the rolling foothills have gone brassy and dry. I took a drive through Spearfish Canyon on my way to Lead earlier today and what should have been a short drive took me several hours. I felt like a tourist pulling over to the side of the road and jumping out with my camera, clamoring through brush to get to a spot that caught my eye. Our hills are bursting with fall colors and the contrast of the darker greens and browns makes everything pop in such a surreal way. Pile in the car, grab your bike (Harley or Bianchi), or just go for a hike, and get out there before it’s gone.
