We would like to give the AJ another try with the recent remodeling. Activity does increase. You are correct in that they will let their presence be known when they want to. You shouldn't have any fear over losing your job on the account of a few spirits. Most guests that come to the AJ are aware of it's paranormal lore and probably have the hopes of experiencing some.

I just love your site. I currently work a AJ's. It is very interesting, especially at night. And you are right, things do not always happen. What I mean is, that it is not a regular occurance. I have had a few personal experiences, but do not wish to share them at this time. I would just like to say that, when they want to be known, they will let you know. Please do not make this a big deal, I still need my job.

I would also like to add Smell to this list.

There have been cases where people have thought they smelled a ladies perfume, or a musk. When in fact it was just an open window in front of the flowerbed. Or always the smell of baking in the morning, when it was just the grandmother next door making her bread for the day. One thing we at BHPI practice is to make sure we do not come to an investigation wearing any perfume, cologne, lotion, etc. We do not want to taint what could potentially be a phantom smell.

When I was about 12 years old, I left my bedroom and crossed the hall to use the bathroom. As I was passing my parents' room, I saw a beautiful white woman floating above their bed. I was very frightened and didn't visit the bathroom but went back to my bedroom, shut the door, and hid underneath the covers.

When I was in my 20s, my grandmother died. I was visiting with my mother who was telling me that my grandmother awoke one night and there was a woman in black at the foot of the bed. The woman told her that if she didn't start treating her husband (my grandfather better), she would die. My grandmother thought she was crazy, and within a year, she died. I then told my mother about the beautiful white woman floating above her bed, and she said that I probably saw a guardian angel.

I still can see this beautiful almost transparent woman all in white, and how she just floated above the bed and how the whole room was lit up, and how pretty she was. I think I was frightened just because I was 12 years old, and this just wan't something normal to me.

A pretty clear EVP. I had a similar one on an investigation this past winter. It was a loudly whispered "hello" in response to me asking if I was speaking to "X". It was very cool.

I know if my little boy told me he saw people, I would believe him. I think even sometimes imaginary friends can be apparitions showing themselves to children.

Wonderer,
We use only about 10% of our brain. So no, it has not gotten full. As we age brain cells do die and there is some decrease in size of the brain itself.
As for the déjà vu or clairvoyant abilities that probably has more to do with 'unlearning'. There is some belief that we are born with some type of pyschic ability. Modern society places an emphasis on 'left brain' thinking. The left side of the brain is the rational, logical side of our brains and education develops this side. The right is the imaginative, creative side of the brain. Not much empahsis is put on using the right side.
Having premontions or precognition can be scary. Especially if all the pieces don't come together until after the event happens.
Having these abilities in no way makes you abnormal or unstable.

When I was younger, I experienced déjà vu episodes quite frequently. The older I get, the less it happens. When one of these episodes happens, I remember feeling like I was out of my body watching and seeing and hearing what was happening and knowing what came next as I had gone through it all before. Actually, I think I was even a little llight-headed until it passed. And, then I would always say, "déjà vu!" and shake my head not really knowing what had occurred. The explanations you give all make sense. Now, I still have episodes occasionially, but they are far and few between. Could it be that my brain is becoming too full and so there just isn't as much room for things to float around up there? Or, maybe I have had too many brain cells deleted, and the ones that used to float around up there have been depleted somewhat! Regardless of what the reason, the experience always surprises me and makes me much more aware of my surroundings. I wonder . . . I have always been somewhat clairvoyant (sp?) also . . . it sometimes scares me when I know what is going to occur and it does or when I know something has happened, and I was no where near what has happened. Maybe these two are connected? Anyway, I prefer to remain anonymous so as to protect my reputation. Presently, I am considered a normal stable individual.
