Cold comfort in the Elton ticket line

Friday, February 27th, 2009

By Eric Lochridge

Not to dampen any spirits in the Elton-John-ticket-campout line, but I just came across this note on the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center’s Web site:

“The website will be your best opportunity to secure tickets. The tickets will go on sale at all locations at the same time, but it takes a lot less time to purchase from the website than it does to stand in line at a window or place an order over the phone with a Ticket Team member.”

Does this mean the days of the ticket campout are going the way of the 8-track?

If you’re impatient like me …

You’ll most certainly go here to get an early listen to U2’s new album, “No Line on the Horizon.”

Just a reminder …

Pearl Jam’s “Vitalogy” is the greatest rock record ever recorded.

Thanks.

Jonas Brothers burn it up with Stevie Wonder

Jonas Brothers and Stevie Wonder
By Eric Lochridge

Despite not winning the best new artist award at Sunday night’s Grammy ceremony, the Jonas Brothers may have accomplished something even more important.
Their impressive performance with Stevie Wonder should go a long way toward dispelling the notion that they are simply a tween sensation manufactured by the Disney moguls.
The band did its recent single, “Burnin’ Up,” which segued into Wonder’s classic “Superstition.” And the Jonas Brothers met the challenge nicely, I thought, showing off the chops that put their latest album, “A Little Bit Longer,” on Rolling Stone’s “Buy This Album Now” list.
Coming on the heels of what to me were flat performances by U2 and Coldplay, Wonder and the Jo Bros. sparked some energy in a flagging show. I think it will erase the superficial boy band label they’re saddle with now.
