This just in… from my Northern Hills colleagues:

STURGIS – The owner of a popular Black Hawk steakhouse plans to re-open the business by July 29.

Mary Arch appeared before the Meade County Commission July 7 to apply for two retail on-off sale beverage licenses for Mad Mary’s Steakhouse. One was a malt beverage license, and the other was for wine. The commission quickly and unanimously approved both applications.

Commenter ‘Matt’ says:

It looks like the Hana has expanded. If you head out to Black Hawk on Sturgis road you will see a new establishment opened called Hey J - Hana 2 Korean Restaurant. I haven’t stopped there yet but was wondering if you or anyone knows if it will be similar to Hana across from Graffiti’s Car Wash.

You are correct. I just got off the phone with Grace Kwak, the owner.

It’s called Hey J restaurant and casino, and it just opened last week. Said Kwak: “It’s Hana 2.”

It is an expansion for the Korean food and sushi restaurant on West Main in Rapid City (interior pictured in this post’s photo). But the new spot has a new name, video lottery machines, and a lot more seating.

The new restaurant is in the former Stone Pony location at 4729 Sturgis Rd. Just under 50 people can sit there, and it has seven video lottery machines. Also, and this is always good news, the new location employs four.

The restaurant is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, noon to 9 p.m. on Saturday, and is closed on Sunday.
