Allied Arts Fund
I was recently invited to a meeting of the Allied Arts Fund and was pleasantly immersed in a group of people with quality, energy and a high work ethic. Â Like all arts organizations they are looking for ways to find the money necessary to help fund the arts here in The Black Hills. Â Here is a list of their organizations:Â
These are tough times for all so I’m posting this question to the community:  How can this group and others continue their work (which ultimately helps us all) in such a bad economic environment?  Artists are frequently asked to donate their work, time and energy and corporations are on everyone’s list for a handout.  How can we raise awareness as to the importance of this funding in addition to others?  Personally, I don’t think now is the time to clamp down. Please give us your suggestions. Don JonesÂ

Don, recommend you get a donation list from the Democrat party. The economic times don’t seem too tough for them. After Obama is elected, they will have about $150 million a month available for future contributions to other causes.

LOL Anton. If I thought that could legally be done I would do it. In fact that was already suggested at the meeting.

This is an excellent question and applies to all arts organizations and artists in the Black Hills. So much of it is education. People don’t realize how important art is to their lives until it’s gone. Imagine non profit galleries closing or stages going dark. We don’t want that to happen! I think those of us who care need to make personalized, passionate pleas of donations or volunteer time to people we know to get the arts in the Black Hills through these tough economic times.
